pray for puppies?

Will you do me a favor? Will you pray that our kids' Christmas presents don't die before Christmas?!
Or while we're at it, can we pray they'll stay alive and well for a normal dog lifespan?!

On our anniversary weekend (celebrating 16 years!), we brought a pair of puppies home for the kids' Christmas present. Yes, we did.

The kids are in love with them, probably almost as much as I am. :)

Unbeknownst to us, it appears that at least one of them was likely getting sick even before the day we found them. Days after their arrival they progressively got sicker, 'til the day before yesterday we thought we might lose one. The vet, who is treating him with antibiotics, suspects that it's distemper which doesn't have any known effective treatment. For this reason, he is having us keep the dogs separated (even though since they're brothers, and until that moment shared every. single. germ.). This has been a LOT of work (more than your average puppy times two). And we must carry on in this way until the vet is sure that it isn't distemper but some cold or pneumonia or something else. Pray for me to have patience with everybody while we work through this!

But most of all will you just pray for our dogs? That they'll regain health and be playmates for our kids for years to come? And if God decides to let them die, will you pray for my kids to be sensitive to the Lord so that He can use the whole thing to work in them to His glory?

Power prayin'!
"Father, I am in agreement with Amy. In the powerful name of Jesus, please answer the cries of these dear hearts. We know You know the foremost desire. Your plans for us never include harm, only good. Therefore if our first desire is not Your plan, we trust in Your goodness to meet each one in the family at their individual points of need. Please, if it be Your will, bring health to the dear puppies and joy to this special family ... in Jesus name, Amen."

Wow,these dogs are beautiful! And it looks like they are going to be big too. I really hope and pray they'll live and have a long and good life to share with you...

Oh, I'm sorry! What a trial!

Do you have access to vitamin C injections? If I were nursing those pups, that is what I'd do until they were better. Holistic vets here use that to treat distemper, and with good success. We use Vit. C injections on our livestock at the first signs of sickness. The higher the dose, the better, and every few hours, even at night, is also good if you can swing it.

I don't know if that is of any help...
